Support Cut Off Date For Windows 7
Microsoft operating system users
should aware of the latest news regarding sales and support policy of
the company. After October 30, 2013 they are not launching any new PC
with pre-loaded Windows 7 software. They already have announced the cut
off dates for all of their operating systems which are presently
available on the market. Though there are a huge number of PCs are still
on the market with pre-loaded Windows 7 which is ready for sale.
Retailers are expecting that Microsoft would have come with some new
updates for Windows 7 but still now there are no such moves from them.
Microsoft has defined their support
systems in two roles, one is mainstream support and another is extended
support. The differences are as below;
Mainstream Support—
This means you can get support for a minimum of 5 years from the date
of a product’s general availability, or for 2 years after the successor
product is released, whichever is longer. If you buy a new version of a
windows operating system then you will get support for five years and
when the next version is released, you will still have two years of
support left for your previous version.
Extended Support—Here
they will offer extended support for either a minimum of 5 years from
the date of a product’s general availability, or for 2 years after the
second successor product (two versions later) is released, whichever is
longer. Means here you can still get support even the next two versions
are released. So what should you do if your operating system reaches at
the end of support date, well as per Microsoft you must upgrade your
operating system to the latest service pack (if available) or the next
version of windows as early as possible.
